Ultrasound is a mechanical vibration with a range beyond what is audible to the
human ear, transmitted through a physical medium and oriented, recorded and
measured in Hertz.
Used in metals, ferrous and non-ferrous materials for detection and characterization
of both internal and surface discontinuities, thickness measurement, extent and
degree of corrosion, and determination of physical characteristics.
It is a high-penetration test that allows detection of discontinuities in large
thicknesses with instant results; its high sensitivity enables detection of extremely
small discontinuities, with portable equipment that provides greater capacity to
work on different structures.
